KIVA is an amazing idea. Kiva is an organization that connects Lenders (that’s us) with Entrepreneurs in developing countries (like Africa, Central America, Phillipines, etc) through trusted Field Partners/microfinance institutions.
Lenders donate $25 dollars to an Entrepreneur of their choice. When enough people donate, the loan the Entrepreneur has asked for is covered, and the Field Partner ‘disperses’ it to them which enables them to open a new business, build up an existing one, or improve their lives in some major way. The Entrepreneur makes monthly payments on the loan and each Lender receives an equal share of that payment back, until the full $25 dollars is paid back to each Lender. We are then free to withdraw our initial loan, or choose another Entrepreneur to lend it to. It’s a gift that keeps on giving!
Comfort Doll Project has a KIVA Team – if you decide that KIVA is something you want to do, come join our team which you can find HERE
In order to joinour team, you must first set up your own KIVA account. Once that’s done, then come find our team HERE . Once on our team, you can earmark a loan to our team, or you can lend and earmark it to your own personal page – if it’s earmarked to our team, it still shows up on your personal profile… but if you don’t ear mark it for the team, it wont.
Looking forward to meeting more KIVA Lenders and more team members! Drop me a line if you need any help.
